Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot near the Parliament building on during the day on May 15, NV reported. 

Slovak media reported that Fico approached a group of people who were greeting him when several shots were fired, causing the Prime Minister to fall to the ground.

A reporter from Denník N saw security personnel lift the Prime Minister from the ground, carry him to a car, and drive away.

Authorities have detained the suspected shooter and secured the area.

Reports indicate that Fico sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen. While his condition is serious, it is not life-threatening. He is expected to undergo surgery.

According to Plus ONE DAY, Fico suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen and arm. His condition is very serious but not life-threatening. "He is currently out of danger. He will undergo surgery," an unnamed source told the publication.

Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová condemned the attack on Fico and expressed her support for the Prime Minister's recovery. "I strongly condemn today's brutal and ruthless attack on Prime Minister Robert Fico. I am shocked. I wish Robert Fico a lot of strength in this critical moment to recover from the attack," Čaputová wrote on her Facebook page.
