Shooting at south Wichita apartment complex sends one person to the hospital

One man has been taken to the hospital after being shot at a south Wichita apartment complex Monday morning, Wichita police Lt. Brandon Lenzi said.

The man, who is in his 30s, is expected to survive. Police say he lives at Emery Gardens Apartments, where the shooting occurred.

Officers responded shortly after 11 a.m. to the shooting call at the complex, which is in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic.

The man was shot once, but other residents reported hearing three shots. Police have a person of interest that they are questioning in connection with the shooting, Lenzi said.

The shooting victim and the person of interest, both men, knew each other and the shooting may have stemmed from an argument, Lenzi added.
