Kate Middleton’s love of the outdoors were on full display during her recent visit to the Scouts’ headquarters.
Earlier this week, the 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge stopped by one of her royal patronages to learn about a new pilot program for young Scouts under the age of six. As part of the new Early Years program, young boys and girls will acquire skills to help build their emotional resilience, communication and language skills during the formative period of their childhood.

The Duchess wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, and helped the children build sailboats as well as a den in the forest.
Middleton, who was a Brownie herself, previously volunteered with the Scouts during the early years of her marriage to Prince William, when the couple lived on the island of Anglesey in North Wales.

The Duchess arrived dressed for a day of hands-on outdoor activities, sporting a chic pair of suede ankle boots by See by Chloé ($356 CAD) and a cranberry mockneck sweater from J.Crew ($60 CAD).

Middleton even joked about her preference for her more casual look during a tree planting ceremony to celebrate the Scouts 100th anniversary.
“Normally I have to do this in high heels,” Middleton told the crowd. “This is much easier!”
