Shot fired into family's home on Prince Albert Street

A single gunshot was fired into the home of a small family in the Overbrook neighbourhood early Monday morning, and Ottawa police say it doesn't appear to be related to a recent spate of gun violence in the southeast.

It happened on the 400 block of Prince Albert Street, near St. Laurent Boulevard, at about 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple shots being fired, and several people CBC News spoke to said they heard three to five shots.

One round was fired through the exterior east-side wall of the home and the bullet lodged into an interior wall. No one was injured.

At least one vehicle was seen leaving the area. Investigators with the guns and gangs unit are combing through witness reports to gather a description.

Acting Staff Sgt. Ken Bryden said this latest shooting does not appear to be related to other recent shootings in Ottawa, also in which no injuries were reported:

On March 13, a drive-by shooting near Heron Road and Jefferson Street led to a four-vehicle crash just blocks away.

On March 26, a white Chevrolet Impala driving east on Walkley Road near Cedarwood Drive was hit with six bullets.
