Sidney Crosby scored wild goal against Montreal without puck hitting the ice
Sidney Crosby proved yet again on Wednesday night that he is still the best player in the NHL.
Crosby and the Penguins were trailing the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in the second period in Pittsburgh. Jake Guentzel flipped a wild pass up into the air to Crosby, who was cutting in front of the net. The puck got to Crosby, who was immediately at the front of the net, in mid-air.
That didn’t faze the 30-year-old.
Crosby batted the puck up to himself, and then hit in into the net past Montreal goalie Carey Price — all without the puck hitting the ice.

Somehow Crosby maintained control of the puck — in mid-air — long enough to score the game-tying goal — the 404th of his career.

The goal then led to two more in the third period for the Penguins, giving them the 5-3 win over Montreal.
