The 27-year-old sat out the opening day of camp on Thursday.

There was concern Crosby, the reigning Hart Trophy winner, had aggravated a wrist injury that hampered him during last season's playoffs. He also needed injections over the summer.

Following his first practice under new coach Mike Johnston, Crosby declined to elaborate on the significance of the injury, but did comment that Johnston's training was "pretty intense."

Crosby's teammate Evgeni Malkin missed training camp for a second straight day.

Malkin is nursing an undisclosed injury, but it is not expected to keep him out of action for an extended period of time.
