Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Ariana Grande and Mac Miller broke up after 2 years of dating as a result of their busy work schedules. At the time, the outlet was also reporting that the two vowed to remain best friends.

"The ex-couple love each other dearly and that will continue to be the case but, again ... just as close friends," a source told the site.

Shortly after the news dropped, Ariana confirmed the split. She posted:

"Hi! This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet Malcolm McCormick," Ariana wrote. "I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us! Unconditional love is not selfish. It is wanting the best for that person even if at the moment, it’s not you. I can’t wait to know you and support you forever and I’m so proud of you!!"

Before they split up, it seemed like the couple was happier than ever. Just after Ariana released her latest single "No Tears Left to Cry," Ariana's former boo tweeted a sweet message in support.

“Very proud of this girl right here. Welcome back. We missed You. One of a kind,” he wrote on April 20.

The next day, Ariana posted a cute couple pic from Coachella.

But now it seems like there may have been some issues that fans totally missed.

About a week after their split, Miller was arrested for drunk driving after he crashed his car into a pole and fled the scene. After the incident, some Mac Miller fans to took the internet to seemingly blame Ariana for the incident.

“Mac Miller totalling his G wagon and getting a DUI after Ariana Grande dumped him for another dude after he poured his heart out on a ten song album to her called the divine feminine is just the most heartbreaking thing happening in Hollywood,” reads one tweet.

The tweetstorm gathered such a response (with the one comment above garnering around 90,000 likes) that Ariana decided to weigh in with her own words.

“I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem,” she wrote. “Let’s please stop doing that. Of course I didn’t share about how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was. I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out and that any other woman in this position does as well.”

You go, girl.

Leading up to their breakup, there was actually one big sign that the couple was headed for a split. Now, keep in mind, Ariana and Mac Miller regularly attended public events together. For example, on March 4, they were spotted holding hands, walking to Madonna's Oscars afterparty.

But, at the 2018 Met Gala, Ariana walked the red carpet alone...

Granted, Ariana looked absolutely amazing in her Vera Wang gown and definitely doesn't need a man by her side, but it's interesting to note that her solo appearance was a little out of the ordinary for the singer. Plus, even the most low-key couples, like Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart, walked the red carpet together.
