Cornwall bypass work resumes Monday, expect delays

'Largest year on record' for water-related road work in Saint John

The P.E.I. Department of Transportation will resume work on the Cornwall bypass Monday.

The work includes a roundabout at the North River Corner, which will provide access for the new bypass.

A median will also be installed that will prevent left hand turns between the causeway and the North River intersection. The highway will be reconstructed from the Poplar Island roundabout to the new roundabout.

Temporary detour routes will be set up to navigate the North River intersection during construction, and two-way traffic is expected to be maintained through the project.

But motorists are being told to expect delays.

Construction is expected to be completed by mid to late July.
