This is the incredible moment that two Sikh men ignored strict religious protocol and removed their turbans to help two drowning boys.

In the footage, the men can be seen fashioning their turbans into ropes - to pull four teenagers to safety after getting into trouble during a religious ceremony.

The teens had been taking part in the immersion of the Ganesha idols at Salur Ghat, India, when disaster struck - being swept away by a strong current.

But quick-thinking Inderpaul Singh saved their lives when he immediately threw one end of his turban into the water for the boys to hold on to.

Recalling his life-saving heroics to New Delhi TV, Inderpaul said: ‘I had no time to think and quickly removed my turban and threw it at the drowning boys and pulled them in.’

His actions prompted a second man, named Kanwalijit, into action.

He added: ‘My immediate reaction was to jump into the canal and try to save them, but I cannot swim .“So I removed my turban and used it to save the boys.’

Seriously mpressive heroism right there.
