Siloam Mission serves up Easter dinner for Winnipeg's less fortunate

Winnipeg homeless shelter Siloam Mission served an estimated 1,000 people Easter dinner on Friday.

Dozens of volunteers helped keep people fed while the crowd took in live performances over dinner.

Dan Funk said he appreciated the warm meal.

"We love, just love this place at holidays and the beautiful turkey dinners, and this is just a very good place," Funk said. "We appreciate Siloam so much."

Edward Campbell often stays at the shelter. He is recovering from a recent heart attack and said he was happy to spend Good Friday surrounded by good company.

"This is the greatest, to have a feast with all your friends. Thank god for that," Campbell said.
