Simon Cowell Opens Up Over Nightmares Since Being Robbed Last Year, Admits To Spending £500k On Security

After becoming a victim of crime last year, it looks as if Simon Cowell is taking no chances with his family’s security – and who could blame him?

The Britain’s Got Talent judge has revealed how he still suffers nightmares following the burglary that took place at his home last year – where criminal Darren February stole nearly £1 million worth of jewellery.

And despite Darren being sent to prison for eight years for his crime, Simon has admitted that he still lives in fear for his family’s safety, saying that he’s spent over half a million pounds on security at his London home.

Both his son Eric and partner Lauren were asleep at home when the burglary took place.

Speaking to The Mail, the X Factor judge said: “What really got to me though was that this guy was walking about in my house when Eric was fast asleep – it doesn’t bear thinking about what could have happened if he had gone into his bedroom, and found him.

“It is terrifying, and still gives me nightmares.”

“The whole experience has been pretty traumatising and not something I ever want to go through again.”

He also admitted that his house now contains a panic room – a specially sealed room in the house where the family can flee to in case of an attack:

“I’ve obviously had to massively increase my personal security at home with every mod-con you can imagine, and all this stuff, including a panic room. My house basically looks like something out of Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
