The Sims 4 has pitched a variety of expansion ideas in a new community survey.

The survey, which is open to everyone and can be filled out here, asks participants a number of questions about their thoughts on the future of expansion packs, including content and features.

In one of the more interesting sections, the survey presents nine different theme suggestions for expansions.

The participant is asked to rate how interested they would be interested in each one and answer a few follow-up questions for their favourite ideas out of the batch.

"The Sims team is not committing to any specific themes, features, or details outlined here. Your input will determine which ideas are most appealing, what could be improved, or which should be cut," the survey states.

We have summarised the nine expansion pitches below:

Survival: Takes place in an "uncharted, otherworldly extreme environment where civilisation has collapsed". Sims must "adapt to survive and work together to thrive".

Modern monarchy: Build your legacy "through grand estates, political intrigue, and luxurious fashion". Sims can "rise from commoner to ruler, forge alliances, and navigate royal rivalries".

Cyberpunk: Takes place in a "whimsical dystopian world" where humans and robots co-exist and "navigate complex relationships", while "cutting-edge tech" is used to enhance lives.

On the road: Sims can customise their travel van and hit the road. During their adventures, they can "explore picturesque destinations" and "trade with the locals", as well as levelling up their mechanic skills. Includes "enriching generational storytelling".

Ocean: A new "vibrant ocean world" with hidden treasures waiting to be uncovered and a focus on marine life. Sims can go on dives and voyages, and "sail between charming coastal towns".

Crime: Takes place in a "gritty city" where Sims can become con artists, mafia bosses, and crime-fighting vigilantes. Choose your own path, and do everything from pickpocketing and stakeouts to shady deals and high-stakes heists.

Retro: Takes place in an '80s/'90s-inspired world, featuring a bustling mall where Sims can enjoy "classic, throwback activities and unique storylines" with "nostalgic charm".

Camp: At camp, kids will be able to "discover new hobbies, uncover camp secrets, and forge lifelong friendships". The world features beaches, lakes, and rivers.

Prehistoric: Sims can explore "coastal landscapes" and uncover "prehistoric and marine fossils and other natural wonders".

The survey confirms EA and Maxis' commitment to supporting The Sims 4 for years to come.

There are no plans for a proper successor to the game, with EA executive Kate Gorman ruling out a fifth numbered game in the traditional sense.

Project Rene, which has a multiplayer focus and features a "social, real-time" environment, is its own separate game in the franchise.

This week also marks the release of two new kits for The Sims 4, while the game's 17th expansion titled Life and Death is planned for an October 31 release.
