PAP team debuts new face at Fengshan while giving out teddy bears
A new face has been spotted amongst the People's Action Party (PAP) team as they handed out teddy bears to Fengshan residents on Sunday (17 Nov).
The team, comprising East Coast GRC MP Cheryl Chan and her team of volunteers, were giving out the bears as part of the party's 70th anniversary celebrations.
The new face in the team is Melissa Tan, 46, chief executive officer of home-grown waste management firm Wah & Hua.
According to The Straits Times (ST), Tan is a long-time PAP volunteer who was previously active in Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, and Transport Amy Khor’s Hong Kah North SMC.
She joined the Fengshan in their activities one to two weeks ago. Tan told ST that she has been a PAP volunteer for 20 years and was "getting to know volunteers and residents" in Fengshan.
The Straits Times reported that Tan greeted residents alongside Chan.
"As I have been with the party for many years, I take the opportunity to visit other areas to see how they conduct activities from time to time," she told the national broadsheet.

Judge Toh Han Li said during the sentencing at Singapore’s State Courts on Monday that a “deterrent” sentence was justified and said there would be no major concessions for Lim’s medical condition.

Woman jailed for offering $65 bribe to Singapore officer along the Causeway
A woman was jailed three weeks for attempting to bribe a Singapore auxiliary police officer with RM50 (S$15) and $50.
On 17 July, Wang Xiping, 42, was driving up to Johor Bahru. She cleared Singapore immigration at about 10.50am, but was caught illegally driving in the bus lane a few minutes later by an auxiliary officer.
The officer told her she wasn't allowed to drive in the dedicated lane and instructed her to return to Woodlands Checkpoint to re-enter Malaysia.
Wang offered RM50 to the officer to let her continue driving but the latter rejected her and asked for her passport. Wang then handed over her passport along with a $50 note, requesting that she be let go as she needed to visit the hospital.
The officer denied her request and said her actions have been recorded by their body-worn camera.
Wang was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint at around 11.30am that same day.
In court, Wang said her English was poor. She also thought the Malay officer worked for the Malaysian authorities and wanted more money.

Man charged for fatal assault on 70-year-old Yakult delivery woman in Sengkang
A man has been charged for voluntarily causing grievous hurt after he allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old Yakult delivery woman in Sengkang.
The woman was said to have been attacked on the ninth floor of Block 272B Sengkang Central at 9pm on 29 Oct while making deliveries. She died on 6 Nov.
According to Mothership, 30-year-old Lim Chuan Xun faces a total of six charges, including one charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to the victim as he allegedly punched her on the right side of her face.
Of the five other charges, one charge under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) alleged that he hurled vulgarities at the victim. The remaining four charges appear unrelated to the incident and alleged that Lim had previously committed crimes in the vicinity of the block.
A family member told Mothership that the victim was "unaware of the severity of the injuries" despite "bleeding from her head".
She was also able to give her statement to the police despite her condition.
However, she fell into a deep coma for a week and her conditioned worsened on 6 Nov when she developed a fever and struggled to breathe.
A breathing tube had to be inserted into her neck to keep her alive. At 5pm on the same day, they made the decision to unplug her "in order not to prolong her suffering".
The victim's family also attended a court hearing on 15 Nov and claimed that Lim said "it was just a punch".
