The upcoming Secret Garden remake is heading to Sky Cinema in the UK on the same day as it premieres theatrically.

Produced by Harry Potter's David Heyman and directed by Utopia's Marc Munden, this adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's beloved 1911 novel stars 14-year-old Dixie Egerickx alongside Colin Firth and Dame Julie Walters.

It was meant to arrive on the big screen back in April, but the COVID-19 crisis has seen its UK and Ireland release pushed back to October 23.

"With award-winning talent on and off-screen, our customers are in for a real treat. We're proud to give The Secret Garden the big audience it deserves this autumn."

When the new film's first trailer arrived last year, some readers of the original book were a bit concerned by what they saw.

Over on social media, one viewer wrote: "For once I'm anti-fantasy. Please don't Alice in Wonderland this beautiful story."

"Are they going for it actually being magic?" questioned somebody else. "Because doesn't that significantly change the thing quite a lot?!"

There's only one way to find out for sure, and you know what that is.

The Secret Garden launches in cinemas and on Sky Cinema and NOW TV on October 23. For those in the US, The Secret Garden is heading to PVoD (Premium Video on Demand) this Friday (August 7).
