Snow flurries, freezing rain expected over wide area

If you live in southern and eastern Saskatchewan, it's time to batten down the hatches.

A mixture of freezing rain and snow is developing over south-central regions and will spread east and north during the day, Environment Canada says. Later, it'll just be snow falling.

At 8:10 a.m. CST, travel was not recommended on Highway 11 between Regina and Bethune and on Highway 6 between Regina and the Piapot grid road. People heading out on the highways this morning should check the Highways Hotline.

The storm will move out of Saskatchewan Tuesday night. Total accumulations by Wednesday morning should be near 10 centimetres, the weather agency says.

In the morning, snowfall warnings or freezing rain warnings were in effect for Assiniboia, Broadview, Canora, Carlyle, Coronach, Estevan, Fort Qu'Appelle, Hudson Bay, Humboldt, Indian Head, Kamsack, Last Mountain Lake, Melville, Moose Jaw, Moosomin, Oxbow, Regina, Rockglen, Weyburn, Wynyard and Yorkton.
