Memorial for Capt. Jenn Casey in Kamloops, B.C.

Canadians across the country are mourning the passing of the Snowbirds’ Capt. Jenn Casey from Halifax, N.S. Casey’s jet, which she was flying as part of a demonstration to thank health-care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, crashed shortly after takeoff in Kamloops, B.C., on Sunday.

A memorial has appeared in Kamloops to honour Casey. The Snowbirds were on a cross-country tour, but during the team’s Kamloops stop, Casey’s jet crashed and burst into flames in the front yard of a home.

Casey was a public affairs officer with the Snowbirds. She joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2014 after a career as a journalist.
