Son of alleged would-be Trump assassin faces child porn allegations
Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Oran Alexander Routh, the son of accused would-be assassin Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was charged in federal court for alleged child pornography offenses Monday in North Carolina.
Federal prosecutors charged Oran Routh with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of receipt of child pornography in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Federal law enforcement arrested Oran Routh Tuesday after searching his Guilford County, N.C., home Saturday due to an unrelated matter from that of his father's alleged assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Sept. 15.
An SD card in Oran Routh's phone allegedly contained hundreds of files showing images of child sex abuse.
The images allegedly include a series of videos that show an adult male sexually abusing a girl under the age of 10, according to the federal complaint.
Federal investigators found a second phone that allegedly contained additional videos, including one showing an adult woman sexually abusing a girl thought to be between 6 and 8 years old.
The federal complaint says investigators also found a messaging app on the phone that individuals who send and receive child pornography often use.
