Sophie Ellis-Bextor has shared an update on her health after being rushed to A&E following a cycling accident.

The singer told her fans that she is recovering at home with “some impressive bruises” after she fell off her bike while cycling by the Thames on Tuesday (2 June).

Ellis-Bextor also said she has a “newly glued forehead, which [she’s] completely fascinated by”.

“If I hurt myself, I’m always satisfied by a spectacular healing process and my puffy face has not disappointed,” she said in the Instagram post.

“I’ve been so well looked after at home and am currently laid up on a sofa surrounded by my three smallest boys,” she continued, writing: “As it happens, I’ve been feeling so incredibly lucky to have not broken anything.”

She thanked her fans for the well wishes, adding: “Quite overwhelming really, and almost worth falling off my bike for.”

During lockdown, Ellis-Bextor has received praise for hosting a feel-good weekly Kitchen Disco series filmed by her husband Richard Jones, who is the bassist of the band The Feeling.

The Friday night shows, which were concluded a few weeks ago, saw Ellis-Bextor singing dancefloor classics, as well as her own songs, with modified lyrics for the pandemic.
