Sophie Grégoire Trudeau greets Kate for Canadian tour in a chic homegrown ensemble

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and the Duchess of Cambridge were perfectly paired as the royal arrived for her tour of Canada with her husband Prince William and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Both Sophie and Kate were clad in knee-length, long-sleeved dresses in dark hues - and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife was completely clad in Canadian designs.

Sophie opted for a purplish-blue Editions de Robes dress with bow accents on the shoulders, which she paired with a wine-hued hat by Saucy Milliner jauntily tilted to the side. Her blond locks were worn cascading down one side in chic waves. Sophie anchored the look with Hudson's Bay shoes and accented her ensemble with Anzie jewelry.

Canada's leading lady is well-known for representing homegrown talent, showing off the country's design talent on diplomatic trips abroad and appearances in Canada.

Kate, meanwhile, gave a sartorial nod to her hosts by adding a maple leaf brooch to the dress, which is owned by the Queen and was previously worn by the Queen Mother on a royal tour of Canada in 1939.

The duchess stepped off the plane wearing a blue pencil dress from Jenny Packham, one of her favourite designers. She completed her look with her signature nude L.K. Bennett court shoes and a hat from Lock & Co, with her brunette hair tied back into a low chignon.

This won't be the only meeting of the sartorial minds as Sophie and Kate will cross paths again on Sunday (Sept. 25) as they tour Vancouver's new Immigrant Services Society’s Welcome Centre before attending a reception with local youth who are "helping to make a difference in their communities."
