Updated article on 15/09/21: Jennifer Aniston has finally addressed rumours of a real-life romance between her and her Friends co-star David Schwimmer.

Last month fans of the pair will remember all too well that Schwimmer called rumours of a romance between the pair 'false' after fans speculated on a possible relationship.

At the time Aniston remained shtum, but recently addressed the gossip in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:

'That was bizarre,' she said of the rumours .'I could not believe that, actually. Like, really? That’s my brother.

'But I understand it, though. It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies, for dreams to come true.'

The comments come weeks after the Friends reunion, during which the pair admitted they had been 'crushing' on each other during filming for the first season of the TV show.

'At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other,' Schwimmer said at the time. 'But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship. And we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.'

Original article published on 11/08/21: While we're reluctant to be the breaker of bad news, reports of an IRL relationship between Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer are not true.

A representative for Schwimmer told ELLE UK that a story claiming the former co-stars have struck up a relationship following the Friends reunion is 'false'.

The story in question first originated from a tabloid magazine and soon spiralled into the depths of the internet and into further reports too. The reports claimed the actors had been in contact and visited each other since the May reunion which they alleged 'stirred up feelings' for both actors.

During the long-awaited reunion, Aniston and Schwimmer dropped the bombshell revelation - which had successfully stayed a secret for years - that while depicting the ultimate TV on-off again couple Rachel and Ross, the actors developed feelings for each other behind the scenes too.

'At some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship,' Schwimmer told host James Corden. 'We never crossed that boundary. We respected that.'

Making a pact not to cross that boundary, Aniston explained how the couple's first kiss was on screen, when Ross rushes to Central Perk to confront Rachel after finding out she had feelings for him too.

'I remember saying one time to David, "It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television". Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop. But we just channelled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.'

And, judging from these latest denials, 17 years after Friends ended, Ross and Rachel is all it's going to be.
