South Carolina O-lineman, tight end leave game at Texas A&M after injuries
South Carolina offensive lineman Trai Jones left the game in the third quarter and tight end Trey Knox left Saturday’s game against Texas A&M with injuries.
Jones was carted away after being helped off the field by two athletic trainers. He appeared to be favoring his left leg. Freshman Tree Babalade, who was hurt against Missouri last week, stepped in for Jones.
“This is a bad sight for Coach Beamer,” ESPN sideline reporter Quint Kessenich said during the broadcast as Jones was helped off the field.
Knox left the game after an apparent hamstring injury later in the third quarter. He will not return today, per the radio broadcast.
South Carolina has nine other offensive linemen available on the travel roster.
The Gamecocks have had 11 offensive linemen deal with injuries this season, including Jones. USC has 20 listed at the position on the roster this season. Head coach Shane Beamer said the injuries have made it difficult for practices leading to Saturday’s game against the Aggies.
Texas A&M was leading USC 21-10 late in the third quarter.
