South Florida architects Swedroe, Rex Nichols join forces. Hotels will be a focus.

Two South Florida architecture firms are joining forces.

Miami Beach-based Swedroe Architecture and Pompano Beach-based Rex Nichols Architects formed the joint venture Swedroe + Rex Nichols Architects in September, according to a news release. The venture will offer design, construction planning and administration services for single-family residential projects, multifamily, boutique hotels, and commercial real estate developments.

“This is a huge growth opportunity for Rex Nichols and Swedroe and we’re excited to formally team up in order to aggressively compete for and win more projects in Miami and around the world,” Dominick Tubito said in a statement. Tubito is a partner and the CFO of Swedroe Architecture.

The firm has collaborated on domestic and international projects in recent years. The most recent collaboration was in 2018. The two firms designed a nine-story condo in Dubai.

Formerly Robert M. Swedroe Architects & Planners, Swedroe Architecture launched in 1974. It has designed over 200 projects, including Turnberry Ocean Club in Sunny Isles Beach and Palazzo Del Mare on Fisher Island.

Rex Nichols Architects opened in 1985 in South Florida and later opened a California office. It has won 11 American Institute of Architects awards. Its single-family home portfolio, includes the S House in Fort Lauderdale.
