South Mississippi man arrested after fight leads to death at Highway 90 bar, police say
Authorities arrested a suspect on Monday in connection to the death of a Bay St. Louis man after a bar fight this summer, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Robert James Hammac, 53, of Kiln, was booked into the Hancock County jail Monday morning. He faces one count of second degree murder, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Hancock County deputies responded to a report of a medical emergency June 9 at K & R’s bar on Highway 90, the release said. Authorities said Hammac and Stanley Garcia fought inside the bar. Garcia was rushed to a Louisiana hospital, where he later died from his injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Garcia, 51, lived in Bay St. Louis. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his friends and family, according to an obituary.
Jail records show Hammac is schedule to appear in court September 17 at 9 a.m.
