Sparks Fly Before Power Outage as Hurricane Isaias Sweeps North Carolina

Hurricane Isaias battered parts of southern North Carolina on August 3, bringing severe wind and rain to the region.

The hurricane made landfall in North Carolina near Ocean Isle Beach around 11.10 pm (EDT) with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (140 kmh), the National Hurricane Center said in alerts

Thousands were left without power in Wilmington, New Hanover County, while several tornado warnings were in place for the area.
