Although they left the UK for LA, to pursue a quieter life away from the spotlight, a new book all about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has revealed a tidbit of information that has kept royal fans guessing for some time now: the name of their black, female Labrador dog. Exciting!

When the couple first got together, Meghan already had a Beagle named Guy (and a Labrador/Shepherd mix named Bogart, who sadly now lives apart from the couple in Canada) and in August 2018, they jointly welcomed another rescue pup into the fold. Even back then, the royal pair joked about how people kept getting her name wrong (with false reports circulating for a while claiming the canine was named 'Oz').

So, what is the royal pooch's name? Drum roll, please... it's (allegedly) Pula! And of course, in true Harry and Meghan style, there's a personal connection and well-thought out reason for the name too.

According to a report from PEOPLE, pula is the official currency of Botswana, the country in Africa that Harry whisked Meghan off to, shortly after they started dating. The word pula itself also means 'rain' in Setswana — which (given its rarity) is viewed as a blessing and extremely valuable in Botswana. We love the thought that's gone into this!

Meghan's love of animals has also filtered through to her charitable efforts too, as she's the patron of The Mayhew, an organisation which helps to re-home cats and dogs. She last popped in to see the UK-based charity in January this year, sharing a few behind-the-scenes snaps from her visit on Instagram.

As for Botswana, it's such a significant destination for Meghan and Harry that reports even say that for his birthday one year, Meghan recreated their camping trip their in their back garden.

"Meghan recreated their Botswana camping adventures in their backyard. It's a place that means so much to them — and to Harry in particular — so Meghan wanted to bring that happy place to him on his day so she set up a tent, got sleeping bags, cooked dinner and recreated Botswana where they fell in love."

We wonder if Meghan, Harry and Archie have any other pets at home over in LA? Watch this space...
