Special weather statement ends for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent

The special weather statement for southwestern Ontario has ended, according to Environment Canada.

A string of thunderstorms rolling across southeastern lower Michigan threatened to hit the region hard Monday afternoon, brining strong winds and heavy rain.

The weather authority issued a special weather statement around 12:30 p.m. forecasting winds that could reach 80 km/h, frequent lightning and "heavy downpours" that could reduce visibility to one kilometre.
