A go-to spot for tacos at Optimist Hall is closing — but other Charlotte locations remain
Change is coming to the Optimist Hall food lineup. Velvet Taco is closing after four years of feeding Weekly Taco Features to hungry Charlotteans, and a new tenant for the space will be announced in 2024.
Velvet Taco’s last day at Optimist Hall will be Sunday, Dec. 17. The Park Road and South End locations will remain open.
The restaurant is known for creative takes on tacos such as Buffalo Chicken, Spicy Tikka Chicken and Nashville Hot Tofu.
“It has been our pleasure to be a part of Optimist Hall for the last several years,” Clay Dover, Velvet Taco CEO, said in a news release.
“We are excited to continue our rapid growth in Charlotte with a focus on opening and operating full-sized restaurants. Our team remains of the utmost importance, and we look forward to helping our Optimist Hall team members continue their career growth with Velvet Taco.”
All employees have been offered jobs at the restaurant’s South End and Park Road locations.
