Spring 2024 TV Preview: 20 Shows to Watch

There’s nothing like the first notes of spring: Longer days, warmer weather (maybe) — and inevitably, lots of TV.

For as the Oscar season draws to a close the Emmys once again climb to the forefront, with campaigns and conversations, but again: lots and lots of TV. Ahead of the official Emmys deadline, IndieWire’s TV team pulled together a list of 20 new and returning shows that premiere between mid-March and May, based on early buzz, headlining talent, and our own subjective excitement.

So whether you’re an AMC loyalist keen to check out Giancarlo Esposito in “Parish” and the return of “Interview With the Vampire”; or a history buff prepping to scrutinize “Mary and George” and “Franklin” and “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”; or a music fan eagerly awaiting the Jon Bon Jovi docuseries; or someone who devoured Viet Thanh Nguyen’s “The Sympathizer” and can’t wait to see it on-screen; or simply self-proclaimed “Bridgerton” trash itching to get back to the ton — there’s something for everyone this spring TV season, as the backlog of strike-delayed content begins to pour into our queues like those April showers.

Some of these shows we’ve been hyping since IndieWire’s 2024 TV preview, published in December. For a look even further into the future, take a peek at our 2024 Netflix and HBO/Max previews.
