When will spring come to Edmonton?

Timelapse footage captured from the roof of the Old Alberta Hotel showed snow, fog, wind and sun in a six-hour period on the morning on May 6, 2014.

Wondering where spring is in Edmonton? You’re not alone.

Temperatures in the city peaked at five degrees today – more than 26 degrees colder than it was last year at this time.

In addition to the colder temperatures, people out and about on city streets this morning encountered snow, fog, rain and eventually sun, as seen in this timelapse footage captured from the roof of the old Alberta Hotel.

But try not to lose hope – Environment Canada is predicting steadily warmer temperatures for the rest of the week, with a high of 14 forecast for next Monday.

Seasonal averages for early May in Edmonton fall between 3 and 17 degrees.
