May greets Ontario with dismal weather, but warmth appears on the horizon
Ontario’s been socked in clouds and precipitation for days as a slow-moving series of upper-level lows dances through Central Canada. Bouts of rain will continue cycling through southern and eastern Ontario into Tuesday as this pattern takes its time moving east.

However, there are signs of a pattern change coming for the second half of the weekend and early next week, with a warmup that could see the return of temperatures hitting the 20-degree mark.

Tuesday
Areas: Ontario
Timing: Unsettled weather continues through the bulk of the work week with conditions slowly improving Thursday and much drier by Friday for southern Ontario
With temperatures near the freezing mark early Tuesday morning, scattered, wet flurries and mixing are possible in the higher terrains of southern Ontario and towards the snowbelt regions
Main Threats: Scattered showers, non-severe thunderstorms, graupel, wet snow and mixing in southern Ontario. Moderate to heavy snow continues into Tuesday morning for parts of far northern Ontario
Wednesday through Friday
Areas: Southern Ontario
Timing: Throughout the remainder of the work week
Main Threats: Scattered showers will ease to isolated showers as the work week goes on. Temperatures will attempt to climb closer to seasonal by the end of the week as the sunshine returns
The weekend
Areas: Southern Ontario
Timing: Saturday to Monday
Weather: A ridge in the jet stream is forecast to bring back the return of the sunshine and milder temperatures. While there is still some uncertainty in how high the temperatures climb, 20°C readings will possibly make a return into the forecast for the second half of the weekend and into early next week

An upper-level low continues to plague Ontario and Quebec with plenty of on-and-off rain showers and snow.
A slight ridge in the jet stream is forecast to slide into southern Ontario for the weekend, bringing the return of sunshine and milder temperatures.
