Spring is coming: Wet, cloudy weather expected across Canada in new forecast

Seasonal Spring conditions are expected for eastern Canada and an extended ski season is likely for western Canada, a new AccuWeather report says.

West Coast

B.C. will continue to see rain and snow into the spring season due to the active weather system. Snowfall may occur in the mountains until the end of April, allowing more time on the slopes for skiing.

Strong storms in the Canadian Rockies will bring heavy rain and extreme wind gusts, which will decrease heading into the second half of spring.

Prairies

Low-lying areas in southeastern Saskatchewan into parts of northwestern Ontario are at risk of major flooding due to the above-average winter snowfall recorded this year. Winnipeg and Regina are also at risk of spring flooding due to unexpected rainfall.

East Coast

Ontario and Quebec will warm up in the later half of the season. To start, conditions are expected to be chilly, cloudy and somewhat damp across central Ontario and southern Quebec.

Toronto, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City are forecasted to slide into a true spring in April after a chilly start. The cities will reach summer-like warmth in May.

However, April and May in Atlantic Canada will see stormy weather patterns that deliver below-normal temperatures for the season.
