St. Albert transit bus crashes through two backyards

A driver was taken to hospital after his transit bus crashed through the fences of two homes in St. Albert Tuesday evening.

The bus was travelling on Heritage Drive near Haviland Crescent around 6 p.m. when it went off the road and crashed through the first fence, taking out a shed.

The bus then crashed through the fence of a second home, pushing a trampoline into a deck.

The driver was the only person on board at the time. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

Residents of the first house weren’t home when the bus crashed through their backyard.

However, two adults and two children were inside the second house. They weren’t hurt but quite shaken up, RCMP said.

The crash is under investigation by RCMP and St. Albert Transit. It's not yet known what caused the bus to go off the road.
