St. John's Deputy Mayor Ron Ellsworth is on medical leave to recover from an injured leg.
On Monday night, Ellsworth posted on Facebook that he needed surgery on his leg, which he injured about four weeks ago. The deputy mayor said his leg wasn't improving, so he saw a specialist who recommended surgery.
Ellsworth added he'll be working from home until he's mobile again. Full recovery is expected to take six to 12 months.
"I will be focusing on my recovery to get back to 100 per cent ASAP," wrote the deputy mayor, who was not available Tuesday, which is when he said his surgery was scheduled.
