Stab wound killed woman found dead in Edmonton home, autopsy shows

The medical examiner has confirmed that a 53-year-old woman found dead inside a northeast Edmonton home early Monday died as a result of a stab wound.

A 30-year-old man was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder in connection with the death.

The man was also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. 

Investigators have deemed the manner of death to be a homicide, the 14th in Edmonton this year. 

Patrol officers responded to a call for assistance from a home near 130th Avenue and 32nd Street in the Belmont neighbourhood at about 12:30 a.m., Monday.

The woman was dead when police arrived.

A neighbour told CBC News that a woman lived in the home with her husband and adult son.
