Kamloops Mounties have identified a suspect in connection to a stabbing at the Star Lodge in Lower Sahali on Tuesday, April 20.

Police were called to the motel on West Columbia Street, near the McGill Road intersection, just after 3:30 p.m. A man in his 50s with stab wounds was taken to Royal Inland Hospital via ambulance. Kamloops RCMP clarified on Wednesday that the man was hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have since identified a suspect, determined the victim and his attacker are known to each other and that they were involved in a confrontation that escalated into an assault with a weapon.

“We are asking anyone who was at the Star Lodge, walking in the area or driving by and witnessed anything related to this incident to please contact police if you haven’t spoken to them already,” Const. Crystal Evelyn said.

No arrests had been made as of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Evelyn told KTW.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information pertaining to it can contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2021-12506.

Tuesday’s visit to the Star Lodge was the second in as many days for Mounties, having arrested an armed robbery suspect there on Monday, following a holdup in Aberdeen.

The motel is one of three along Columbia Street still listed on the City of Kamloops' nuisance property list due to numerous police calls relating to criminal activity.
