Stephen Colbert roasts Kansas City Royals for new ‘Taste of The K’ taco offering
And here we go...
The second half of the Major League Baseball season begins Friday, and the Royals open it at Kauffman Stadium. They’ll play nine games in the next 10 days as they try solidifying their spot in the playoff race.
That should whet the appetite of most Royals fans. But for those who crave a little more, there’s this: the ‘Taste of The K’ Taco.
Aramark is rolling out a new menu item at seven ballparks for the second half of the season. That includes this taco, which will be at Kauffman Stadium.
Here’s the description from Aramark: “Charred hot dog wrapped in a cheeseburger quesadilla and topped with barbecue brisket, french fries, shredded romaine, pickled red onion, Sriracha Cracker Jacks and 816Sauce.”

The taco will be sold at the Rival Sports Bar in Section 250 at Kauffman Stadium. Former ESPN reporter Darren Rovell said it will cost $25.
Late night barb
A photo of the Taste of The K Taco went viral on Thursday and even caught the attention of late-night host Stephen Colbert.
“The Kansas City Royals have a new ballpark food item called the ‘Taste of K Taco,’ which is a charred hot dog wrapped in a cheeseburger quesadilla and topped with barbecue brisket, french fries, shredded romaine, pickled red onion, Sriracha Cracker Jacks and 816 sauce,” Colbert said. “Now, I don’t know exactly what 816 sauce is, but based on those other ingredients, I assume it’s embalming fluid.”
Zing!
