STM's new AZUR Metro cars set to ride this weekend

New Montreal Metro train finally in service

Montrealers will finally get to ride on the STM's new Metro cars this weekend — a year and a half later than originally planned.

The first of the new AZUR trains will officially be put into service on Sunday morning.

The STM has been testing the new trains on the orange and blue lines since last August.

The AZUR cars will replace the iconic blue and white MR-63 cars that have been in service since 1966.

The 468 new cars are being built by the Bombardier-Alstom consortium to the tune of $1.2 billion.
