Stolen blood thinners, anti-depression pills could be dangerous: police

Police say "extremely hazardous" drugs were stolen during a weekend break-in at a pharmacy in St. John's, and are warning the public to be on the alert.

A pharmacy on Topsail Road in St. John's was broken into early Sunday morning, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said.

The stolen drugs include Wellbutrin, used to treat depression; Xarelto, used as a blood thinner; pms-Amlodipine, used to treat high blood pressure and agina; and Apo-Amoxicillan, an antibiotic.

"The medication is considered dangerous if not prescribed by a physician," the RNC said in a statement.

*Police wish to advise that these drugs are not for recreational use and are extremely hazardous."
