An expensive sports car, firearms and cocaine were among the items seized Saturday as police swooped down on a man from Conception Bay North.

The 30-year-old is facing a long list of criminal charges after RCMP officers carried out searches of a residence in Bristol's Hope and a business in nearby Carbonear.

It's not uncommon for police to seize vehicles, weapons and drugs during such operations, but in this case investigators came away with a red 2017 Ferrari 488 Spider, an Italian luxury sports car that is rarely seen on Newfoundland and Labrador's roads. The car is valued at between $300,000 and $400,000 on the used vehicle market, based on a search of the Internet.

A second vehicle, a 2024 BMW X3 luxury SUV valued at more than $70,000, was also seized.

Both vehicles were stolen from Ontario, according to an RCMP press release.

Police say they were led to the accused following an investigation into firearms activity. He was released and is due back in court later on a range of weapons charges and other offences related to the stolen vehicles.

In addition to the vehicles, police also seized three handguns and a rifle, along with ammunition, brass knuckles and a small quantity of cocaine.
