Stop Scrolling and Catch Up With Brand New ‘Bachelorette’ Tayshia Adams

From Cosmopolitan

Hello, hi, casual update from Bachelor Nation: Tayshia Adams is replacing Clare Crawley as this season’s Bachelorette. I’ll give you a moment to scream in excitement à la John Paul Jones:

In case this is BRAND-NEW INFORMATION to you, Clare reportedly fell in love with contestant Dale Moss after just 12 days and basically refused to leave her hotel to go on dates with other guys. In other words, she appears to have straight-up quit, and now most of the season will star Tayshia—who we all know and love from The Bachelor, not to mention Bachelor in Paradise. But in case you didn’t watch Colton’s season and were wine drunk through most of BiP, here’s everything you need to know about ABC’s brand-new Bachelorette:

First, Her Age/Job/Family—aka the Basics:

Tayshia is from Newport Beach, a phlebotomist (basically, the technician who takes your blood at the doctor’s), and 29. And yep, she’s on Instagram, where she’s been using her voice to bring awareness to the ongoing fight against racial injustice and police brutality.

Tayshia also has an adorable little brother and seems super-close to her family—who we’ll *hopefully* get to see more of on The Bachelorette:

She Dated Colton Underwood

It obviously didn’t work out, and Tayshia went on to tell her Bachelor in Paradise costars that Colton kinda sucked at kissing, musing, “He got better by the end of the season...I think I’m a good teacher.” For what it’s worth, Colton isn’t over it:

She Had Some Pre-Colton "Drama"

Honestly, all this is a little eye-roll-inducing—but one of Tayshia’s exes tried to pull a ~WRONG REASONS~ on her by claiming they were together right before she left to film Colton’s season. Like, “right before,” as in the day before. Here’s what the dude told Us Weekly:

“I moved some things around…before she ended up deciding to leave [for The Bachelor], because she still wasn’t really sure if she was going to go on the show or not. She was still back and forth…she wasn’t sure. As it got closer, I could kind of see changes between us and I could kind of tell that she was leaning toward going. I don’t know all of the exact reasons for that.”

I mean...sounds like Tayshia did literally nothing wrong here but hope her ex enjoyed his five minutes.

They’re clearly not together anymore, but for a while there, fans got to enjoy a delightful summer of drama, speculation, and rumors—including from Reality Steve who implied that JPJ and Tayshia were lying about their relationship post-Paradise. Either way, John Paul Jones is “really happy and excited” for his ex and hopes she “finds the love and happiness that she deserves.”

She’s Been Married Before

Tayshia got divorced from her first husband Joshua Bourelle back in October 2017, after less than two years of marriage. She opened up about the split last year on Dean Unglert’s podcast:

“I felt a lot of pressure to make sure that my marriage worked, so at the same time, I made sure to do everything I needed to do in order to know that I did everything I could at the end of the day. It definitely was scary to tell my parents it’s just not working out. Before my divorce, I really wasn’t open with my parents about every single thing that was going on in my relationship slash me in general. But because of my divorce, I opened up a lot more and they are now my closest friends in a way.”

We’ll be learning even more about Tayshia on The Bachelorette and I, for one, CANNOT WAIT. Like, this is truly the only thing I’m looking forward to, kay bye.
