Stop that! Seamus O'Regan not amused by campaign sign tacked below stop sign

A campaign sign for Liberal candidate Seamus O'Regan had to be removed from a stop sign in Witless Bay, which is in the federal riding of St. John's South-Mount Pearl.

O'Regan says he pulled down the sign himself, and wasn't happy that someone put it there in the first place.

Michael McDonald posted a photo on Twitter that showed a campaign sign for the federal candidate stuck to a post underneath the stop sign.

In a follow-up tweet, the user said O'Regan should stop posting signs on stop signs, citing traffic safety concerns.

O'Regan tweeted that "someone thought nailing to stop signs would be funny. We disagreed."

O'Regan told CBC News he's not sure how the sign got there, but he removed it himself when we found out about it.

The Elections Canada Act has rules about campaign signs that state if a sign on public property poses a safety hazard, it can be removed without having to give notification.
