A 21-year-old woman was accused of dressing inappropriately for the gym by a fellow patron, and she managed to catch the entire interaction on camera.
Kylen Suttner, who has over 454,000 followers on TikTok, frequently shares workout videos on her account. In early April, Suttner was documenting her attempt to do the 75 Hard Challenge in which she needs to complete two 45-minute workouts a day.
The challenge was why Suttner was filming in the first place when, only a week in, she was confronted by another gymgoer over her outfit.
“Do you really think you can walk around the gym wearing that?” a voice offscreen asks Suttner, later clarifying that she is referring to Suttner’s top. “Your boobs are hanging out.”
“Are you kidding me?” Suttner replies.
“No, we’re in a public place, do you not see everyone around you?” the person continues. “No one wants to look at your boobs hanging out.”
“I am fine, thank you,” Suttner says.
“I don’t think you are,” the person adds. “Whatever, put on a shirt next time.”
Suttner also informed Inside Edition that she’d just given birth four months prior and was still adjusting to her body changes.
“I’m breastfeeding, I’m a little larger up top now,” she said, referring to the top she wore in her video. “It’s a normal top anyone would wear.”
Garnet Henderson, a personal trainer, wrote for Glamour in 2019 that the issue of harassment in gyms prevents women from returning to the gym or signing up in the first place.
“Just as in most public spaces, women’s experiences in gyms and on hiking trails and running routes are often marred by harassment,” Henderson said. “Even female-dominated spaces can promote some discouraging messages about working out.”
Recently, another woman went viral on TikTok for sharing her story of being asked to leave an all-female gym over her outfit — a pair of leggings and a sports bra.
“I wasn’t wearing anything that was inappropriate,” the woman said. “Why am I being shamed by this?”
“Welcome to women in the gym in 2022,” Taylor tweeted. “Ladies wear what the f*** you want in the gym.”

“I was just beating myself up for not standing up for myself more,” Suttner concluded about her confrontation at the gym. “I would never let something like that stop me from going to the gym or wearing what I want.”
