A special weather statement calling for strong wind gusts in Toronto and surrounding regions Friday afternoon has ended, Environment Canada says.

The federal weather agency said winds were expected to gust up to 80 kilometres per hour.

"Gusty winds could further damage trees or structures already weakened from recent storms," it said in the statement, adding loose objects could be tossed about by the winds, causing injury or damage.

At around 10:20 p.m., the weather agency ended the special weather statement.
