Struggle with suspect sends Saskatoon Police officer to hospital
Saskatoon Police say an officer was injured and taken to hospital for treatment after a suspect struggled to resist arrest on Saturday morning.
The constable was at a home on the 100 block of Avenue I S., according to police, to arrest a man on an outstanding warrant shortly before noon CST.
Police say he was eventually able to arrest the man, 48, following a physical fight, but was hurt doing so. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance suffering from what police describe as non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the constable has been part of the police service for seven years, and is assigned as a patrol officer.
The man has been charged with obstruction and assaulting a police officer. He also faces charges for breaching orders laid out in a conditional sentence.
