Brampton school reopens after early morning evacuation

Chinguacousy Secondary School in Brampton has reopened following the lifting of an evacuation order that was promoted by a reported threat made against the school.

Peel District School Board (PDSB) tweeted that the evacuation had been lifted and students are now returning to school.

"Police have indicated that the threat is not credible. Everyone is safe. We expect buses to pick students up from Ching at the end of the day," PDSB tweeted.

An earlier statement from the school, located near the corner of Williams Parkway and Bramalea said that a student reported to police that they had overheard a threat that they felt police should be made aware of.

Police arrived at the school this morning and evacuated the building as they investigate.

Const. Bancroft Wright of the Peel police told CBC Toronto the investigation ongoing and witnesses are being interviewed.

Wright said the perpetrator has been identified and "being spoken to" but the police are not commenting on the nature of the threat at this time.
