Students and staff evacuated from Roseville school after reported bomb threat toward campus

Students and staff at a Roseville school were evacuated Wednesday morning after a bomb threat was reportedly made toward the campus, Placer County sheriff’s officials said.

Creekview Ranch School at 8779 Cook Riolo Road in Roseville was being evacuated after the reported bomb threat made toward the school, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Sheriff’s officials said will release further information about a reunification point for parents and their children if one is needed. The school offers classes for students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.

At 10 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office announced that all students were safely evacuated, and deputies were working to inspect all areas of the the campus. Once that inspection is complete and the campus is determined to be safe, the school plans to resume classes.

“We kindly ask that no one come to the school at this time,” sheriff’s officials said in a Facebook post.

At 10: 50 a.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office announced that one of its explosive-sniffing K9 teams, along with another from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, were searching the school to make sure the campus is safe for students to return to their classes. Sheriff’s officials said the students remained evacuated and were in a safe location.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office announced that the campus was deemed safe for students to return to class, and the school does planned to resume for the remainder of the day.

“The safety of our kids is always a top priority and taken extremely seriously,” sheriff’s officials said in the Wednesday afternoon update. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding through this investigation.”

Officials from the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District said the Creekview Ranch School will resume with its regular school day, and asked parents who wish to pick up their children from school early to make sure to have proper identification ready and follow the directions of staff and law enforcement officials.

“All of our students and staff are safe,” school district officials said in an updated Facebook post. “We know these types of events can be stressful, and we thank you for exercising care and patience.”

School district officials said any threat made against one of its campuses is “taken very seriously and proper measures applied to ensure safety of all involved,” but they didn’t provide any further details about bomb threat and whether it was credible.
