Stunting driver who hit pedestrian and sped off sought in central Alberta

Rural Albertan, alleged burglar charged after shots fired near Okotoks

Police are looking for a motorist they say was driving dangerously when he struck a man and his snowblower in a central Alberta town last week.

RCMP responded to a complaint that a motorist had blown through the intersection at 52nd Avenue and 51st Street in the town of Castor, Alta., on Feb. 14 at about 4:30 p.m.

Castor is about 140 kilometres east of Red Deer.

The man, who is described as being between 25 and 35 years old with dark hair and a moustache, "sped away from the intersection, lost control and struck a pedestrian and his snowblower. The driver did not stop and proceeded eastbound toward Gus Wetter School. Fortunately, the pedestrian did not sustain serious injuries," police said in a Tuesday release.

The vehicle was a blue, newer model, four-door pickup truck.

If you have information on the incident, police ask that you contact Coronation RCMP at 403-578-3666 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
