Subway sandwich-maker freaked out by customer's ‘disgusting’ order: ‘Wildest sandwich I’ve seen’

Subway’s latest slogan tells customers that, when it comes to your sandwich, you can “make it what you want.”

What happens, though, when those wants go to far?

That’s the subject of a recent post going viral on Reddit, in which current and former Subway employees are sharing their “wildest” customer requests.

The thread, with anecdotes ranging from “disgusting” to downright confusing, has drawn 15,000 comments in just four days.

It’s easy to see why too. Take, for example, user The_JFK_In_The_North, who claimed to have encountered a customer who ordered a meatball sub topped with mixed vegetables and … chocolate chip cookies.

“After my 3 years at subway this is the wildest sandwich I’ve seen,” they wrote.

The experience seemed to leave the user both confounded and oddly impressed. Commenters apparently felt the same way.

“Not going to lie, I now want to try cookie crumbles on my next Subway sandwich,” one user replied to The_JFK_In_The_North’s story.

“I would like to hear more,” another added.

Others chimed in with similarly wacky stories. One former employee, writing under the name Flip-Ya-4real, claimed they served a customer who was very wrong about what guacamole is.

“Worked at Subway and had a customer ask me for guacamole,” the user explained. “She insisted I give her the guac without avocados. I explained there’s no such thing … the lady got louder and pointed at a pic on her phone she took last time she ordered it. The picture was of Pico de Gallo.”

More other highlights included a customer who allegedly sprinkled Splenda onto his tuna sandwich, a man who asked for his meatball sub doused in vinegar and a woman who ordered a mayo-only sandwich with the “fluffy” part of her bread removed.

The viral post sparked horror stories from other restaurants too. One, who previously worked at a “pizza place,” said they had a regular customer who ordered calzones stuffed with ketchup — hold the marinara, hold the cheese.

It’s not just Reddit either. A new TikTok trend has coffee shop workers also sharing their worst-ever customer experiences.
