Suicide Squad shuts down Yonge Street, yet again
One of the biggest movies ever filmed in Toronto will, once again, shut down a stretch of Yonge Street tonight as Suicide Squad films a high-speed chase.
It's the latest scene the Hollywood movie — about a team of supervillains from DC Comics — has shot on location around the city.
Over the weekend the cast and crew filmed a helicopter crash in the financial district, and earlier this month a train scene shut down the Union Station bus terminal. Yonge Street was shut down last month for another chase scene and, prior to that, for a plane crash.

Toronto is no stranger to Hollywood movie shoots, but most filming is usually done behind closed doors. Suicide Squad, on the other hand, is doing a lot of its work on city streets.
The movie "is one of the largest, if not, the largest film ever shot in Toronto," according to Toronto Film Commissioner Zaib Shaikh.
Toronto is the third largest film and media production centre in North America, behind Los Angeles and New York, said Shaikh, and in the last few years has seen "record economic activity."
Last year, productions in Toronto generated $1.23 billion.
The city says 500 local actors and crew members are working on Suicide Squad.
The movie stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Canadian Adam Beach and Margo Robbie, among others, but only the stunt doubles are expected to be working on Yonge tonight.
Yonge Street will be closed between Queen and College streets from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Spectators will be kept back while the high-speed chase is filmed.
