Summerside's Billy Bridges helps Canada win sledge hockey gold

Summerside's Billy Bridges helped lead the way for Canada in its gold medal win over the United States at the 2017 Para Ice Hockey World Championship in South Korea.

Bridges recorded three assists for Canada's National Sledge Team in its 4-1 win on Thursday. 

Scoring for Canada were Tyler McGregor of Forest, Ont., with two goals, and Liam Hickey of St. John's and Brad Bowden of Orton, Ont., with one each.

 

Seven teams participated this year. This is Canada's fourth time winning the tournament.

The top five teams automatically qualified for the March 2018 Paralympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
